Festival of Joy is two free events back to back: colour and music at the temple on Saturday, then the chariot parade and village by the water on Sunday. They use different locations — bookmark both so maps and transit line up with the day you are attending (or come to both!).

Day 1 · Festival of Colours

At the temple

    By car

    • From Vancouver: Take Kingsway east, turn right onto Royal Oak Ave, then left onto SE Marine Drive.
    • From Surrey / Richmond: Take Marine Way west, which becomes SE Marine Drive.

    Free parking available at the Temple.

    By transit

    • SkyTrain: Take the Expo Line to Metrotown Station.
    • Bus: From Metrotown Station, take bus #100 eastbound.
    • Exit at Marine Drive & Gilley Ave stop.
    • Short 5-minute walk to the temple.

    Travel tips

    • Temple is between Royal Oak and Gilley Avenue.
    • Look for the distinctive temple architecture with dome.
    • Transit journey from downtown Vancouver takes approximately 45–60 minutes.
    • Driving time from downtown is about 25–30 minutes depending on traffic.
  • What to bring

    • Light layers and sun protection; refillable water bottle.
    • Closed-toe shoes are a good idea around colour play areas.
    • Cash or card for vendors — final bag-size rules will be posted with the event guide.
    • Bring all your friends and family!

Day 2 · Chariot Fest

Foreshore parade route

  • Location

    The procession runs along the park foreshore: from Glen Lyon Parkway (start) to Foreshore Park (end).

  • How to get there

    Parade route: The parade goes along the scenic Glenlyon Fraser Walkway.

    It starts on the walkway at the south end of Boundary Road and finishes on Glenlyon Parkway near North Fraser Way.

    Parking is usually easiest near the parade start (south end of Boundary Road) and along North Fraser Way, which runs parallel to the parade walkway.

    Transit: Bus #116 runs directly from Metrotown, with stops near the parade start and along North Fraser Way toward Glenlyon Parkway.

  • What to bring

    • Hat, water, and comfortable shoes for walking the route.
    • Blanket or camp chair if you plan to post up along the path.
    • Cash or card for vendors.
    • Bring all your friends and family!

Both days

Admission

Both days are free. Optional donations and vendor purchases are separate — bring a card or small cash.

Accessibility

Paved loops on colour day; paved foreshore paths on parade day. Quiet breaks and clear signage where we can. Email early if you need reserved seating or sensory support.
